I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher –

Recharge your creative spirit and rediscover the magic that is watercolor! Every watercolourist needs a creative kick in the pants now and then--to keep seeking inspiration when feeling uninspired, to keep going when a painting has stalled, to keep trying when a technique isn't easy to master...sometimes just to keep painting, period. When your artistic well has run dry, you must replenish it. Whether you have spent decades painting in watercolor or are just beginning, the tips and secrets shared by best-selling author and artist Gordon MacKenzie provide the perfect guide when the going gets tough. Get excited about watercolor again as he shows you how to: Find better approaches to a tired composition. Engage viewers more fully with color, value and well-placed "wee people"

Reinvent a scene that outshines your reference photographs.

Dramatize a landscape by focusing on the weather.

Nurture your own growth by sharing what you know with others

"You don't have to paint the way you paint now. You don't have to paint what you paint now." --Gordon MacKenzie

Gordon MacKenzie is a native of New Liskeard, Ontario. He has been a popular artist and teacher for more than 30 years and has mounted more than 25 solo exhibitions. His work hangs in many private and corporate collections and has been featured in magazines. He conducts workshops in the United States and Canada. He has produced two books with North Light and has also self-produced a popular video. His current residence is in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

They say that every Canadian knows at least two men named Gord and this is a Gordon I would love to know! Although my art works so far have been drawings and acrylic painting, this book was an invaluable guide, especially when it comes to perspective. The colour charts were amazing in helping chose complimentary colours across the spectrum which will help me branch out, I hope, from my love of purple, purple and more purple!!!!

I have already pre-ordered this book for myself and another fellow painter and am looking into buying his past books on watercolour painting that have already been published.! Thank you, Gord, for proving that not only are people from “The Soo” the friendliest Canadians but great at what they do!
