Hello -- Poppy here as I requested to read this book, via Janet as I am more of an outdoor gal than she is. I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher - Unleash the healing power of wild plants Mountain States Medicinal Plants is an accessible introduction to finding and using wild plants for health and wellness. Beginners seeking reliable advice and experienced practitioners on the hunt for new information alike will delight in the plant profiles, color photographs, step-by-step instruction for essential herbal remedies, and seasonal foraging tips. This indispensable guide is for wildcrafters in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, the eastern parts of Washington and Oregon, northern Nevada, and the southernmost parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
As someone who has hiked most of the Appalachian Trail and all up and down the Rockies, this book is indispensable ... I don't often forage for things to bring back but it will be interesting to understand the plants that I see. The photography is wonderful but I would like to add that I have seen plants like in this book in Southern British Columbia as well as Alberta and Saskatchewan - a few plants even show up in the Laurentians in Quebec.
I am going to order a copy and memorize it - too big to take and an ereader copy won't work as there is not exactly wi-fi on the trail!
This is an essential book for any forager or hiker IMHO.
