I received an DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher - Though the ancient civilization of Egypt may be long gone, its dead still have secrets to tell. From the myth of Isis and Osiris, to King Tut’s tomb, to the intricacies of preparing the body for its underworld journey, Inside Out: Egyptian Mummy takes you step by step into a tomb. Get a fascinating glimpse into how an ancient culture saw death and the afterlife beyond. Alongside beautiful illustrations and photographs, an interactive die-cut model reveals the many rites of the Egyptian tomb: the golden burial mask, lucky amulets, linen wrappings, even the mummified body and preserved sacred organs. And when it comes to hieroglyphics, hidden burial grounds, and missing treasure, there’s always more to uncover.

When I was younger the King Tut exhibit in San Francisco blew my mind ... as did the recent Egyptian collection/event/show a the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. I was hooked --- when I went to Egypt at age 18 and went to the Valley of the Kings it became VERY CLEAR that climbing down a ladder into those tombs via a very small shaft and how freaking HOT it was (in their winter/December!) I realized that that career goal was a bust.

This book took me back to my love ... Egyptian Mummies (unless they are in a Tom Cruise movie!) This book was interesting to review because the digital copy did not have the "cut out section" that is in these books --- BUT my nephew was absorbed and so into this book that I have already ordered it (and Inside Out Human Bodyy, Inside Out T-Rex and Inside Out Sharks) for him for Christmas!

I even ordered one for me and my Egyptian book collection ... which is huge and beside my Egyptian souvenirs. (and to think that the home used as "Downton Abbey" is the home of the descendants of Lord Carnarvon who found Tut's Tomb!)

They are wonderfully detailed and I enjoyed them as much as he did!

Great gift for any kid (or adult) in your life who has the gift of curiosity!
