What a beautiful book!!!!
Anyone who follows my Instagram feed knows that I am a MAJOR flower fan and these posts are often the inspirations for my paintings. As the granddaughter of a market gardener, I am known for killing plants - I once killed a silk plant as it got wet and molded: that is one of many reasons I imagine he is rolling in his grave :-)
The beginning of the book is very technical (per the publisher - Introductory information includes the diverse eco-regions of the Texas climate, an explanation of the plant parts, and information on plant names) and my eyes kind of glazed over.
Once the author got to the photos and the descriptions I was hooked. Colour by colour and flower family by family this lengthy (504 pages) book was devoured by me as it gave me so many inspirations to paint. The photography is excellent --- it made me want to lie ion a pillow of bluebonnets and wait for a cowboy to take me away. (I was paraphrasing the Dixie Chicks there...)
I HIGHLY recommend this book to photography fans flower fans, gardening fans, and artists alike. I have already put this on my birthday list for when the book is released - a hard copy for my coffee table AND a kindle copy for when I paint as it can be nearby as it is already paint splattered.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NETGALLEY.COM for allowing me to read and review your book! As people who follow me know, I do not regurgitate what the book is about as the title and cover is usually a giveaway PLUS that is what the description from the author and publisher at the top of the pages where I post reviews are for. (Goodreads, Amazon. etc. )
